We all wish for life and business to go “back to normal” soon but this will not happen for some time. Therefore, we need to adapt to the new normal. A new normal that follows social distancing rules and sanitized surroundings.
Going back to work at the office becomes risky to the employees and challenging to the business owners. So, what can you do as an employee and as an employer to be ready and to thrive in a New Normal Setting?
Install physical barriers, plexiglass barriers will protect employees from each other without breaking up the open-plan nature of your office.
Install hand sanitizer dispensers beside each door for employees to sanitize their hands before and after touching the door handle.
Another option aside from installing sanitizer dispensers is to install sinks or lavatories at the entrance so that people can wash their hands upon entry and may also do so before leaving work.
Provide a disinfecting foot bath to make sure that the shoes of every employees are sanitized
Provide a temperature screening facility on entrance door to monitor the daily temperature of employees entering the office
Provide sanitizers, wipes, and cleaning products so that your employees can clean their desks prior to and on completion of their work.
Encourage the cleaning of common spaces frequently.
And install signs to remind employees of the requirement to regularly disinfect their office desks and hands and maintaining social distancing within the wherever.
And for health safety, develop a plan for monitoring your employees’ health, with a particular focus on COVID-19 symptoms.
New practices and protocols will ensure the safety of the work environment but there are no guarantees. Without us, each one of us complying with the rules and prioritizing hygiene. We should be open to the possibility that this would not be the last pandemic, COVID-19 is a lesson on how important hygiene and health are.
